- I think the raster color for the background ( blue ) a little bit look slightly similar to the subject. Especially for the dice, a bit hard to see the shape. It’s what I think. hehe.

These icons are not suitable for any commercial purposes or any professional software/web application; I would say it is more toward into the gaming apps, because I see BLOOD!!! Why blood!!!!

To answer both 1 & 2, what makes an icon work is that it must have a very strong meaning in its context. What I mean is this: the same icon that means “save” (the diskette icon) in MS Word will be easily confused if it is placed in another software, for example a harddisk management software.
For your icons, I can roughly guess it might be for a game or some investigation related tasks or environment, but before you explain what the environment in which the icon will be used in is about, it is hard to judge the relevance and efficiency of a particular icon to represent a particular task or action.
From what I can see, the icons represent
1) camera
2) notebook
3) game
4) mail/message
5) repair/maintenance
Comparing a1 and b1, it is harder to tell a1 is a camera. Maybe you should add some camera film in the background to make the hint stronger, maybe add some more details normally found on a camera.
The rest of the icons are pretty consistent, I think, across the raster/vector sets.
If set a is intended to use at a much smaller size (I am guessing from the pixelated look) do try to have a version at its actual size instead of an enlarged version. They will look different and you will want to test that also.

I think b3 needs more work — the chess piece is 3D but you don’t have any shadow cast onto the chessboard. Also, the scale of the chess piece compared to the chess board is wrong.

Perhaps set B could look better without the plastic bags. It is very important to have an icon as much in contrast as the other icons in the set — i.e. it is difficult to confuse one with another. With all the icons in set b having the plastic bag, it is unnecessary and makes it slightly harder to differentiate the icons.

instead of using dislike tis word, i would say tat a3 the dice wif blood not really nice for a icon tat stand for the game application..maybe can use cards or others? or u can make the dice in better way, like make it more clear or gd looking..
i really like the vector icons, for the raster icons i would be impressed too if applied to nokia 3310 which turned into smart phone..XD

yes…as a normal ordinary user, i would like to hve a try..it will be suitable used for the hand phone..it’s quite cool if my h/p hving these icon..i would be thrilled if i m a CSI fans.
